Mentorship

Here with BAM students have the unique opportunity to be mentored and advised by a team of licensed minority architects who serve as role models in a field where people of color are underrepresented. BAM works to curate life long relationships with students so that we may continue to encourage them through their academic and professional development. BAM assists students with scholastic resources, scholarship opportunities, and assistance with resume/portfolio content.

We Lead by Example

Through mentorship with BAM, mentors work closely with students to pair them with local participating firms to be hired in both part time and full time positions. BAM Miami’s parent firm MCHarry & Associated is opened and excited to work with the next generation of architects.

JaLin Harrington was born and raised in Miami Florida and was brought to architecture by his interests in game coding and design. JaLin first joined BAM in 2019 as a senior at FAMU. Through mentorship from Craig, JaLin was able to make relationships with young Black professionals like himself, and gain practical experiences with architecture outside of school. JaLin soon embraced a leadership position with BAM as a counselor, where he could fulfill his passion of giving back to the community and inspiring young minds. After interning for six months JaLin received a full time position with MCHarry and Associates upon graduation.

“My favorite part about volunteering with BAM is connecting with the kids and being to them what I never had coming up.”

JaLin has now been with MCHarry and Associates for four years working in construction documents, permits, and administrations. JaLin’s love for learning in the field continues to grow as he plans to earn his masters of architecture in the near future.
